Job summary

Riverside Wellness Center – Peninsula in Newport News, Virginia, seeks a part-time Athletic Trainer to join a multidisciplinary team providing injury prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and current ATC certification with CPR/BLS. You will support care plans, education, and community health initiatives across clinics, schools, and game sites as needed. Salary ranges: $34.00–$35.00 hourly.

Responsibilities

  • Build trusting relationships with a multi-disciplinary team to support patient care.
  • Collaborate with disciplines to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Participate in care team meetings and provide training to team members and learners.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform athletic injury prevention, assessment, treatment, and reconditioning as per NATA/BOC.

An athletic trainer is supervised by the office manager and/or the physician(s). The athletic trainer will be able to demonstrate an ability to perform the following functions regarding athletic injuries: prevention, assessment, treatment, (including first aide) and reconditioning as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC). The primary responsibilities of the athletic trainer are to to educate the public on injury prevention, rehabilitation, wellness and other health-related issues; and to maintain the highest standards of care and integrity. The primary location of work might include any combination of outpatient clinic; recreational facility, school, or university treatment headquarters; or at practice or game sites. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development throughout the life span, be able to assess customers' needs and status by analyzing evaluated data, and be able to interpret information to identify age-specific needs and provide appropriate care accordingly per patient care setting. **What you will do*** Builds trusting collaborative relationships with a multi-disciplinary team to support patient care needs. Collaborates appropriately with other disciplines to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. Participates in care team meeting.* Participates positively in the training and support of all team members, volunteers and students as needed. Proactively participates in and provides feedback to team members/learners.* Demonstrates the ability to perform the following functions regarding athletic injuries: prevention, assessment, treatment, and reconditioning as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC).* Demonstrates consistent fiscal accountability by providing recommendations and participating in supply utilization changes that support cost containment. Participates and provides feedback in new equipment/product evaluations; identifies and recommends solutions for cost savings and waste reduction.* Promotes a healthy community through participation in educational offerings, pre-season physicals, screenings, health fairs, and other health promotion opportunities.* Demonstrates the ability to design and implement prevention programs and the ability to provide appropriate injury recognition, evaluation, and immediate care.
