Job summary

Hannibal Regional is seeking an Athletic Trainer to function in our orthopedic clinic, while also delivering athletic training services and outreach to affiliated local schools.

The role supports musculoskeletal care across the continuum—from injury prevention and sideline assessment to surgical support and rehabilitation, acting as a vital link among student-athletes, families, school personnel and providers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Athletic Training from an accredited program.
• BOC certification is required.
• Current Missouri athletic trainer licensure or eligibility.
• CPR/AED certification is required.
• Experience in orthopedics or sports medicine preferred.
• Strong knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy and rehab protocols.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EPIC or similar).
• Excellent communication, collaboration and organization.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends for athletic coverage.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Patient-centered approach aligned with hospital standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide athletic training services and outreach in orthopedic clinics and schools.
• Support orthopedic providers with sideline assessment and clinical care.
• Lead injury prevention, evaluation, and return-to-play decisions.
• Assist in rehabilitation protocols and post-op recovery.
• Coordinate care with student-athletes, families and school staff.
• Contribute to a multidisciplinary care team and care coordination.
• Demonstrate strong clinical judgment and emergency readiness.

This position functions primarily in a medical assisting capacity within our orthopedic clinic while also providing athletic training services and outreach support to affiliated local schools.

As part of our integrated health system, this role supports our mission of delivering high-quality, coordinated musculoskeletal care across the continuum - from injury prevention and sideline assessment to surgical support and rehabilitation. The Athletic Trainer serves as a vital link between student-athletes, families, school personnel, and our orthopedic providers.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training from an accredited program.
• Board of Certification (BOC) required.
• Current licensure as an Athletic Trainer in Missouri or licensure eligible required.
• CPR/AED certification.
• Prior orthopedic, sports medicine, or clinical experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy, injury assessment, and rehabilitation protocols.
• Proficiency in electronic medical records (EPIC or similar system preferred).
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for athletic coverage.
