Job summary

Through a specialized partnership with the Christian Hospital Foundation, we are seeking a high-energy, clinically skilled Athletic Trainer. You will be the primary source of sports medicine services—focusing on injury prevention, rapid evaluation, and expert rehabilitation.

As part of the FFSD "New Chapter," you will strengthen the coordination between our schools and medical professionals, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for every scholar‑athlete to excel. Role Summary

The Athletic Trainer provides comprehensive sports medicine services to student‑athletes across the district. Reporting to the High School Activities Director, you will manage everything from daily practice coverage to emergency response at home and away events, develop individualized recovery plans, lead safety training for coaches, and serve as the critical liaison between families, school staff, and external physicians.

  • Licensed Medical Professional: Must possess a valid Missouri Athletic Training License.
  • Educationally Prepared: Bachelor’s degree required; experience in sports medicine or working with adolescent athletes is highly preferred.
  • Emergency Expert: Hold current BLS, First Aid, and First Responder certifications.
  • Certified Instructor: Must hold (or be willing to obtain) BLS/Heart Savers Instructor Certification to train our coaching staff.
  • Specialized Skills: Ability to maintain the Missouri weight assessment program for wrestling and manage AED/medical equipment.
  • Mobile & Flexible: Must have reliable personal transportation to travel between buildings and events, with the flexibility to work a schedule that follows the athletic season.
Your Impact (Key Duties)
  • Direct Athletic Care: Provide expert evaluation, immediate care, and long‑term treatment plans for all athletic injuries.
  • Prevention & Education: Educate athletes and coaches on safe training practices, conditioning, and proper hydration/weather safety.
  • Clinical Documentation: Maintain accurate, confidential medical records in strict compliance with HIPAA and FERPA.
  • Safety Training: Lead CPR and First Aid training sessions for district coaches and staff to ensure a district‑wide culture of safety.
  • Emergency Action: Assist in the development and implementation of Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) for all athletic venues.
  • Clinical Liaison: Serve as the professional link between school personnel, families, and external healthcare providers to ensure seamless care.

  • Classification: Professional Staff Teacher work calendar plus extended athletic season (July – June).

  • Physical Readiness: Must be able to respond quickly in emergencies and occasionally exert 50–100 lbs.
