Job summary

Rochester Regional Health in Henrietta, NY seeks an Athletic Trainer to coordinate and deliver comprehensive sports medicine services across the organization. The role encompasses program development, injury prevention, injury evaluation, management and rehabilitation, plus education and counseling for athletes in partnership with Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training or Sports Medicine required.
• NATABOC certification and NYS athletic training license required.
• CPR/AED certification required.
• 4-5 years of experience preferred.
• Familiarity with NJCAA governing rules.

Responsibilities

• Program Development: implement and oversee a comprehensive sports medicine program including prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehab.
• Patient Care: provide athletic training during athletic department activities and coordinate medical referrals.
• Budget & Equipment Management: assist in budgeting, record injuries, and evaluate new techniques and equipment.

Shifts and weekends vary based on departmental needPOSITION SUMMARYCoordinate and administer a comprehensive sports medical program for designated location(s) and/or organization. The athletic trainer will also perform professional and administrative services essential for the successful implementation and development of the program.RESPONSIBILITIESProgram Development. Implement an overall sports medicine program, including injury prevention programs, injury evaluations, injury management, injury treatment and rehabilitation, educational programs, and counseling for athletes; collaborate with staff to ensure safety in the design and implementation of fitness, nutrition, and conditioning programsPatient Care. Provide athletic training services for athletic department; attend scheduled team practices and competitions as necessary; supervise and evaluate athletes requiring on-field and clinical experience; coordinate/schedule physical exams and medical referrals for athletes to determine ability to competeBudget & Equipment Management. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation.
