Job summary

Prisma Health Richland Hospital is seeking a Cardiac Rehab Specialist to work with cardiac and pulmonary patients, determining exercise prescriptions and guiding patients back to pre-event conditioning.

This on-site role involves education, monitoring during activity, and coordinating with care teams. A Bachelor's degree and BLS certification are required, with two years' experience preferred. Opportunity to contribute to discharge planning and outcome data collection.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement exercise prescriptions and re-evaluate activity until discharge.
• Provide fitness and lifestyle assessment and patient education.
• Monitor patients during exercise and assess equipment needs.
• Document patient activity, vitals and clinical response.
• May perform treadmill stress tests, nuclear stress tests or stress echocardiography.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team and support discharge planning.

Job Summary

Works with cardiac and pulmonary patients in a variety of settings. Encompasses a variety of responsibilities of cardiac imaging and rehabilitation services. Determines exercise prescription on an individual basis for each patient. Promotes exercise and activity aimed at assisting patients to return to pre-event level of conditioning.

Essential Functions

• Provides fitness and lifestyle assessment. Responsible for development of exercise prescription, instructions and ongoing re-evaluation of activity until discharge.
• May provide classroom education to patients regarding importance of exercise and increased activity, how to monitor activity, indications, and contraindications.
• Responsible for monitoring patients during exercise, assessing equipment needs and providing recommendations to manager.
• Performs pertinent chart reviews to determine appropriate activity levels. Communicates plan to other care providers.
• Recognizes the need for and makes appropriate interdisciplinary referrals.
• Documents patient's physical activity as well as documenting vitals and clinical response.
• Provides patient with self-monitoring tools as appropriate.
• May perform a variety of stress tests to include routine treadmill stress tests, nuclear stress tests and stress echocardiography.
• May prepare studies for interpretation and assign studies to correct physician.
• Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, including discharge planning. Participates in collection of outcome data.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

• This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Requirements

• Education - Bachelor's degree. Science, Exercise Science, Public Health or health related field of study preferred.
• Experience - Two (2) years of experience preferred
