Job summary

Lindenwood University in Saint Charles, MO, seeks an Athletic Performance Coach to lead strength and conditioning for all student-athletes and coordinate performance fundraising.

You will develop data-driven programs, teach speed, agility, and recovery, and work with trainers to ensure safe return-to-play while supporting the department's mission.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or related field.
  • Master’s Degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or related field preferred.
  • CSCS or CSCCA certification through NSCA/CSCCA.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ collegiate strength and conditioning coaching.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, implements, and evaluates strength and conditioning programs for athletic teams.
  • Researches and teaches resistance training, speed, and agility techniques.
  • Educates athletes on proper nutrition and recovery.
  • Maintains performance evaluation records and communicates results with staff.
  • Plans, supervises, and coordinates fundraising activities and events.
  • Collaborates with certified athletic trainer on return-to-play protocols.

Job Summary

The athletic performance coach is responsible for the developmentand management of strength and conditioning programs for both maleand female student-athletes participating in the intercollegiateathletics program. The coach is also responsible for coordinatingand managing all athletic performance fundraising activities.

Essential Job Functions and Performance Indicators

The intent of this job description is to provide a representation of the types of duties and level of responsibility that will be required of positions given this title. Job Responsibilities and Execution
  • Designs, develops, implements, and evaluates evidence- andscientific-based strength and conditioning programs for athleticteams
  • Researches and teaches resistance training as well as strength,speed, and agility techniques
  • Educates athletes on proper nutrition and recovery
  • Maintains and shares knowledge of typical injuries and theirprevention
  • Complies with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)and all conference and university requirements, policies, andprocedures
  • Plans, supervises, and coordinates all fundraising activitiesand events
  • Maintains performance evaluation records and promptlycommunicates results with coaching staff
  • Assists with supervision of Fitness Center and addresses issuesto minimize risk and maintain safe working environment
  • Expands professional competence/knowledge base throughprofessional development

  • Supports the mission of the University and serves as anambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence
  • Models, supports, and holds others accountable to theUniversity’s values – integrity, dedication, excellence,creativity, and teamwork
  • Provides guidance, support, and quarterly evaluations forinterns and volunteers
Communication, Teamwork, and Collaboration
  • Fully understands and complies with department’s core valuesand mission statement
  • Communicates frequently with supervisor regardinghealth/physical development of the student-athlete
  • Promptly reports and responds to inquiries and assignments
  • Develops a seamless line of communication with the team’scertified athletic trainer to develop effective return-to-playprotocols
  • Provides input on training theories and methodology
  • Shares fundraising/event updates at departmental meetings;collaborates with personnel to promote said events to theUniversity and surrounding community
  • Gives at least one continuing education presentationannually

Job may require other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

– An equivalent combination ofeducation, training, and experience will be considered. Additionalrequirements may be designated by position.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or relatedfield
  • Master’s Degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or relatedfield preferred
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)certification through the National Strength and ConditioningAssociation (NSCA), or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified(SCCC) though the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning CoachesAssociation (CSCCA)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ working as a collegiate strength andconditioning coach
