Job summary

Saint Columbkille Partnership School in Brighton, MA is seeking a part-time Athletic Director for the 2026-27 school year. The role requires 20 hours per week, including evenings and weekends, to lead athletics for fall, winter, and spring seasons.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Advance a school culture that values physical exercise, teamwork, good sportsmanship, and positive school spirit.
  • Organize teams for the fall, winter, and spring seasons, including recruiting coaches, recruiting athletes, and scheduling practices and meets.
  • Meet and collaborate with athletics directors and staff at local schools, City of Boston officials, and other community partners to implement athletic programming.
  • Ensure logistic needs are met by arranging for officials and facilities as necessary.
  • Assess the feasibility of joining existing elementary and middle school athletics leagues or of creating a new league dedicated to Catholic schools in the Boston area.
  • Integrate the school’s Catholic identity, especially Jesuit values, into the athletic program.
  • Develop an athletics handbook, including expected student-athlete behavior and parent and spectator expectations, based on our STCPS SOAR expectations.
  • Develop and lead orientation sessions for all coaches each season.
  • Hold meetings with parents and students regarding athlete eligibility, program philosophy, and other program information.
  • Communicate with all key stakeholders regarding practice and competition schedules.
  • Ensure safe, timely, and productive practices for each sport.
  • Monitor athletes’ safety and well-being under direction of coaches.
  • Ensure that any injuries are appropriately documented, coaches are aware of and follow guidelines, and safety equipment, first aid kits, and emergency contact forms are obtained and properly prepared and distributed.
  • Assist coaches with issues around parent/community concerns.
  • Support and give recommendations to coaches regarding student peer conflict.
  • Communicate with administration as needed regarding student, staff, and community issues.
  • Prepare and monitor an athletics budget in coordination with school administration.
  • Evaluate and maintain athletic equipment and uniforms, and requests purchases and/or repairs as needed.

Saint Columbkille Partnership School

Saint Columbkille Partnership School, located in the Brighton neighborhood of Boston, educates students aged 2.9 years through Grade 8. Founded in 1901 by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston, the school has educated generations of local families. Saint Columbkille Partnership School was re-established in 2006 and enjoys a unique partnership with Boston College, as the Laboratory School affiliated with its Lynch School of Education and Human Development, and with the Archdiocese of Boston and Saint Columbkille Parish.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous coaching experience.
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of individual and team sports.

The compensation range for this role is $25-40 hour, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
