Job summary

University of San Francisco seeks an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications to support sports information, media relations, publications, social media and content creation. You will serve as media contact for assigned sports, maintain statistics, write feature stories and coordinate graphics/video for USF athletics.

Responsibilities include managing press materials, updating bios and game notes, and collaborating with coaches to promote student-athletes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in journalism, public relations, communications or related field.
• Minimum 1 year of PR, communications or sports information experience in an NCAA athletics department or professional sports organization.
• Experience in Adobe Creative Suite is preferred (InDesign and Photoshop).
• Basic knowledge of Stat Crew, NCAA Live Stats (Genius), Stat Input (Stat Broadcast).
• Experience in feature writing, game coverage, copy editing and proofreading.
• Strong writing background from feature stories to game notes and ideas for graphics and video for social media.

Responsibilities

• Manage and assist in communications for various sports as directed.
• Write game previews and recaps and bios; update department site and bios.
• Maintain statistics, records and photo archives for assigned sports.
• Provide live and postgame statistics; serve as official statistician when needed.
• Collaborate with coaches on promotions for teams and student-athletes on social platforms.
• Write feature stories and contribute to graphics and video content for social media.
• Cultivate relationships with local and national media and respond to media requests.
• Archive photos and coordinate with marketing and conference for materials.
• Assist with gameday staffing and with NCAA and conference requests.
