Job summary

Boston Public Schools is seeking an Athletic Coach to lead school sports teams under the direction of the Director of Athletics. The role involves coordinating practices, competitions, and paperwork to ensure compliant participation in all events.

Ideal candidates will have strong leadership, coaching knowledge, and required certifications including CPR/First Aid/AED, concussion training, and MIAA Coaches Education completion. The position is hourly and part of the athletics department.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to lead and organize a sports team.
• Knowledge of the sport and coaching fundamentals.
• CPR, First Aid and AED certifications are required.
• Completion of annual Youth Sports Concussion Training is required.
• Completion of the MIAA Coaches Education Course is required.

Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include the following:

• Adhere to all MIAA and BPS, policies and procedures for participation and competition.
• Manage and submit all required paperwork for participation.
• Recruit and retain student-athletes to participate.
• Conduct regularly scheduled practices.
• Schedule all non-conference competition.
• Maintain equipment and inventory on an annual basis.
• Attend all pre-season and post-season meetings scheduled by the Athletics Department
• Meet all required BPS Athletics deadlines for scheduling and participation paperwork.
• Transportation schedule (practices and competitions)

Job Requirements

• Demonstrated knowledge of the sport and leading/organizing a team
• Certified in CPR, First Aid and AED
• Completion of annual Youth Sports Concussion Training Certification
• Successful completion of the MIAA Coaches Education Course
