Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Jamestown, NY is seeking an ATF Electrician - Level III (1st Shift) to join our manufacturing team.

You will be responsible for reliability, troubleshooting, installation, testing and preventive maintenance of electrical systems to support safe, efficient operations. You will mentor apprentices, interpret schematics, work with PLC/HMI/Servo CNC controls, and participate in TPM initiatives while maintaining strong safety practices.

Qualifications

  • Minimum required technical degree or Journeyman certification with relevant experience.
  • Experience interpreting schematics, manuals and blueprints.
  • Ability to train and mentor apprentices and coworkers.

ATF Electrician - Level III (1st Shift)

We are looking for a talented ATF Electrician - Level III (1st Shift) to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Cummins Inc. facility in Jamestown, NY.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
  • Ensure equipment reliability through effective troubleshooting, installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems that support safe and efficient operations.
  • Create a safer workplace through strict adherence to HSE requirements, prompt hazard identification, and immediate reporting of safety concerns.
  • Deliver high-quality repairs and maintenance that meet specifications, standards, and operational requirements while reducing quality risks.
  • Improve equipment performance through accurate failure analysis, preventive maintenance feedback, and timely resolution of electrical issues.
  • Support production goals through collaboration with operators, peers, and support teams to minimize downtime and eliminate manufacturing constraints.
  • Strengthen team capability through coaching, mentoring, and sharing technical knowledge with less experienced employees.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that enhance safety, quality, process efficiency, material flow, and overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and teamwork through clear communication, ongoing professional development, and active participation in TPM initiatives.

  • Recognize electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic hazards and consistently apply safe work practices and procedures to protect people, equipment, and operations.
  • Develop strong electrical troubleshooting skills to accurately diagnose control system issues, perform effective repairs, and restore equipment to proper operating condition.
  • Build expertise in factory automation and control systems to support process improvements, increase efficiency, and optimize manufacturing performance.
  • Create and modify machine programs that improve equipment functionality, reliability, and overall operational effectiveness.
  • Apply manufacturing knowledge to implement process, equipment, and application changes that support business objectives and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Leverage problem-solving and analytical thinking to identify root causes, evaluate solutions, and make informed decisions that improve safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Commit to ongoing learning and skill development to stay current on automation technologies, programming methods, manufacturing processes, and industry best practices.
Education/Experience:

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

Additional Information:
  • One of the following minimum requirements: — At least 7 years of experience in a relevant trade field, or — A Journeyman Trade Certificate with relevant experience, or
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to interpret schematics, manuals, and blueprints.
  • Ability to provide training, mentorship, and guidance to apprentices.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime and weekends as needed to support production.
  • A 2-year technical degree in a related field, plus 3 years’ experience working in the Machine Repair/Industrial Electrical field
Electrician Specific:
  • Knowledge and understanding of the NEC and IEC (National Electrical Code and Industrial Electrical Code) is required along with training, authorization, and certification in 70E.
  • Knowledge and troubleshooting skills of PLC, HMI, Servo Drives, CNC, automation, and Robotic controls is required.

Starting hourly rate: $38.70
