Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The ASU Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the proper predictive, preventative and corrective maintenance of mechanical, electro‑mechanical, pneumatic, structural and piping systems is performed as necessary to achieve the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the air separation plants. The Maintenance Technician may also be required to perform the duties of a Plant Operator as needed to cover vacations, sick time, etc.

This position reports directly to the ASU Plant Manager.

JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Perform equipment inspections and preventative maintenance (PM) activities, including analysis of operational data, to maintain equipment in optimum condition.
  • Implement or oversee the corrective maintenance (repair/replacement) of all process equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and evaluate equipment malfunctions. Coordinate with plant management to determine and implement proper corrective action.
  • Utilize and assist with the administration of the Company CMMS (MAPS) to schedule and document all preventative and corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Keep all shops and areas where work is being performed in a clean and orderly condition utilizing 5S principles.
  • Adhere to all Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures. Be Safety Conscious at all times and practice Interdependent Behavior.
  • Communicate with contractors and vendors to solicit quotes, order parts, and coordinate work to be performed by them.
  • Assist with the research, selection and negotiation of purchases for suitable plant equipment.
  • Read and interpret process diagrams, wiring schematics, technical drawings and equipment manuals.
  • Travel to assist with maintenance activities at other Company locations when needed.
  • Be on‑call as required. Work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Perform routine calibration of analytical test equipment and document properly.
  • Prepare and maintain Company production and quality records to conform to regulations of the FDA, EPA, OSHA, ISO Quality Systems and any other governing bodies as required.
  • Monitor and adjust air separation plant process controls to meet product specifications and production goals.
  • Assist with startups and shutdowns of the plants in a safe manner as directed by plant management due to operating conditions and business needs.
  • Complete all required training as directed in a timely manner.
  • Perform cooling water treatment testing, document results and make adjustments to water chemistry controls as necessary to optimize.
  • Participate in the maintenance and updating of plant and equipment work instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education

High School Diploma (Required).

Work Experience
  • 1‑3 years: Technical Degree or equivalent industry experience (Required).
  • 4‑6 years: Maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment (Required).
  • Experience with compressors (centrifugal, reciprocating, screw), pumps, valves and expanders (Preferred).
  • Experience with the implementation and administration of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) (Required).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in the safe operation of general hand and power tools. Welding skills a plus.
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, feeler gauges, dial indicators and torque wrenches.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and basic pipe fitting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret process diagrams, wiring schematics, technical drawings and equipment manuals; use these skills to troubleshoot and evaluate equipment malfunctions and determine appropriate corrective action.
  • Basic knowledge of electricity, motors and electrical systems.
  • Ability to use a digital multimeter in troubleshooting low‑voltage systems.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Licenses and Certifications
  • DL NUMBER – Driver License, Valid and in State (Required, upon hire).

Stationary position, moving/traversing, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, ascending/descending, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, communicating, repetitive motions, coordination are required. Frequency ranges from rarely to constantly per the job demands.

Mental Demands

Compensation

Compensation: $42 - $52 per hour
