Overview
The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) seeks a postdoctoral researcher to study stellar activity in partially and fully convective stars (< 1.8 solar masses). The research will involve time‑series analysis using multi‑wavelength data from missions such as TESS, Swift, NICER, and other NASA observatories, with a focus on stellar rotation, flares, activity evolution, and the impact of activity on exoplanets.
Responsibilities
- Analyze time‑series and other data to investigate stellar activity phenomena.
- Develop multi‑wavelength observational strategies to study magnetic activity indicators.
- Conduct comparative studies of different activity indicators across spectral bands.
- Assess the influence of stellar activity on exoplanet atmospheres.
- Propose and execute projects that combine multiple NASA resources (e.g., TESS, Swift, NICER).
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in astronomy, physics, or a closely related discipline.
- Prior experience with time‑domain astrophysics analyses and multi‑wavelength studies.
- Strong quantitative, computational, and data‑analysis skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams.
Eligibility Requirements
- United States citizens.
- U.S. lawful permanent residents (LPR).
- Foreign nationals eligible for an Exchange Visitor J‑1 visa status.
- Applicants for LPR, asylees, or refugees in the U.S. at the time of application with a valid EAD card and I‑485 or I‑589 forms pending.
- Doctoral degree required.
