Job summary

You will craft messaging, draft materials, and manage content across websites and social channels, while contributing to multimedia storytelling and performance analysis. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, astronomy, astrophysics, physics or a related field.
• 3-5 years of professional experience in communications.
• Strong ability to translate complex topics into clear narratives for non-expert audiences.
• Experience pitching stories to the press.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of unified narratives for Schmidt Sciences' astrophysics portfolio.
• Serve as thought partner on positioning, messaging, and presentation support.
• Highlight grantees' voices through profiles, interviews, and feature stories.
• Draft and edit high-quality press materials, website content, reports, newsletters, and social posts.
• Translate complex astrophysics and instrumentation into accessible language for diverse audiences.
• Pitch stories to journalists and influencers in astrophysics and space science.
