Job description

We are currently seeking an Assurance Supervisor to join our team!

At Boulay, our Assurance team does more than deliver audits—we help clients build confidence in their financial reporting and make informed business decisions. Our team works with a diverse range of clients, from privately held businesses to publicly traded companies, providing audit, review, and other attestation services.

The Assurance Supervisor is a key member of our Assurance team, leading audit, review, and other attestation engagements for clients across a variety of industries. In this role, you'll oversee engagement execution, review financial reporting processes, evaluate risk areas, and help ensure projects are delivered on time and at the highest level of quality. You'll work closely with clients to build trusted relationships, gain a deep understanding of their businesses, and provide valuable insights to support their success. This position also offers meaningful leadership opportunities through coaching, mentoring, and reviewing the work of less experienced team members. Work is performed both in the office and at client locations throughout the Twin Cities Metro Area, providing exposure to a diverse client base and a wide range of business environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and review audit, review, compilation, and other attestation engagements for clients across a variety of industries.
  • Develop engagement plans, timelines, and staffing assignments to ensure successful project completion.
  • Review workpapers, testing procedures, financial statements, and client deliverables for quality and accuracy.
  • Research complex accounting and auditing issues and communicate recommendations to clients and engagement teams.
  • Identify risks, resolve issues, and collaborate with Managers and Partners on complex matters.
  • Build strong client relationships and provide guidance on accounting, financial reporting, and business process improvements.
  • Monitor engagement budgets, timelines, and overall project performance.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop associates and senior associates through ongoing feedback and mentorship.
  • Delegate work effectively and support team members in managing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Serve as a technical resource and role model while fostering a collaborative, positive team environment.
  • Stay current on accounting standards, industry developments, and continuing education requirements.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with 150 credit hours
  • 4+ years of progressively challenging Public Accounting experience
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in various accounting and other software, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong working knowledge of all areas of the general ledger
  • Strong knowledge of financial statement procedures and the ability to distinguish between material and immaterial items
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and knowledge of review, compilation, and auditing standards
  • Ability to creatively solve problems, analyze client data and the ability to effectively delegate, supervise and review work of less experienced staff
