Job summary

SR Staffing is seeking an experienced Assurance Senior Manager to join its Construction Services Practice in Portland. This role leads complex engagements, mentors teams, and drives strategic growth for construction clients.

The ideal candidate holds a CPA and has 7+ years in public accounting with deep construction accounting expertise and strong client relationships. The position offers a hybrid work model in the Portland area.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of public accounting experience in assurance and leading complex engagements.
  • Experience serving construction contractors and related clients.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage complex assurance engagements for construction clients in line with GAAP/GAAS.
  • Provide technical expertise in construction accounting, including revenue recognition and WIP.
  • Oversee budgeting, staffing, billing, scope, and profitability across engagements.
  • Develop executive client relationships and identify cross-sell opportunities.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop managers, seniors, and staff.

Our client, a well‑established public accounting firm, is seeking an experienced Assurance Senior Manager to join its growing Construction Services Practice. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing complex assurance engagements, serving as a trusted advisor to clients, mentoring future leaders, and contributing to the growth of the firm's construction practice.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in construction accounting and auditing, strong client relationship skills, and a proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple high‑level engagements.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage complex assurance engagements for construction industry clients, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of audit and review services in accordance with U.S. GAAP, GAAS, and firm methodology.
  • Provide technical expertise related to construction accounting, including:
  • Percentage‑of‑completion revenue recognition
  • Cost‑to‑cost measurement methods
  • Work‑in‑progress (WIP) schedules and rollforwards
  • Job cost accounting
  • Claims and change orders
  • Contract modifications
  • Retainage
  • Contract asset and liability classifications
  • Oversee engagement budgeting, staffing, billing, scope management, and profitability across multiple concurrent engagements.
  • Develop and maintain executive‑level client relationships by providing proactive communication, strategic guidance, and industry insight.
  • Identify opportunities to expand client relationships through additional services and business development initiatives.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop managers, seniors, and staff through performance management, career development, and succession planning.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.
  • Manage engagement risk and ensure adherence to professional standards and internal quality control procedures.
  • Represent the firm through participation in industry organizations, speaking engagements, and thought leadership initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience: 7+ years of recent public accounting experience in assurance. Demonstrated experience leading complex audit and assurance engagements. Significant experience serving construction contractors and related clients.

Pay range and compensation package
  • Base Salary: $135,000 - $185,000, depending on experience, credentials, geographic location, and overall fit.
