Job summary

BPM LLP is seeking an Assurance Associate I to join a collaborative audit team in the San Francisco Bay Area. You will gain exposure to industries including Blockchain, Financial Services, Real Estate, and Nonprofit while developing core audit skills under the guidance of a Coach and Buddy.

The role emphasizes foundational accounting knowledge, CPA trajectory, strong communication, and a proactive, resilient mindset.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher in Accounting/Business/Finance/Economics.
  • Foundational knowledge of GAAP and GAAS.
  • Working toward CPA licensure; sit for CPA exam when eligible.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; team player.
  • Desire to learn and grow as a professional in public accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform audit procedures to assess accuracy and completeness of financial statements.
  • Evaluate internal controls and collaborate to deliver quality work within deadlines.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and respond to inquiries.
  • Analyze disclosures for misstatements and discrepancies; take corrective action.
  • Review client records for accuracy; support continuous improvement.
  • Pursue ongoing training and certifications, including CPA designation.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or Economics (BS/BA/MSA/MST/Certificate Program)
  • Has foundational accounting knowledge (i.e., GAAP and GAAS)
  • Has earned enough units (or is close) to sit for the CPA exam
  • Demonstrated interest in pursuing or obtaining CPA (Certified Public Accountant) Educational Licensure Requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a willingness to work in a team environment and deliver quality results

Responsibilities
  • Using your foundation in accounting, learn and perform audit procedures to assess the accuracy and completeness of financial statements. This involves examining financial records, transactions, and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with accounting principles and relevant regulations
  • Assist in evaluating and testing the effectiveness of internal control systems implemented by clients, working hand in hand with team members to deliver a quality product within the client’s timeframe
  • Build relationships with clients, respond to client inquiries and concerns and proactively consider and develop ways to better serve audit clients’ needs
  • Analyze financial statements and related disclosures to identify any material misstatements or discrepancies and take appropriate corrective actions
  • Review and examine client financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Continuously develop your skills and knowledge in auditing. This involves participation in training programs, staying up to date with changes in accounting and auditing standards, and pursuing relevant certifications such as the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
