Job summary

The San Diego State University Department of Psychology seeks a tenure-track assistant professor with expertise in quantitative psychology to develop and apply novel quantitative methods to psychological data across experimental, quasi-experimental, intervention/prevention, and longitudinal designs.

The successful candidate will teach applied statistics at graduate and undergraduate levels, collaborate across topics, and build a vigorous research program.

Qualifications

  • Record of original research / scholarly / creative accomplishments and demonstrated capacity to a) develop a vigorous and independent program of research / scholarship / creative activity, b) teach graduate and undergraduate courses; and c) engage in both campus and professional service activities.
  • Terminal degree in Psychology or related field, with all degree requirements met.
  • Preferred qualifications: Demonstrated expertise in the Quantitative Psychology and its methodologies
  • Record of publications, presentations, and/or funding
  • Demonstrated proficiency in interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches
  • Potential for securing extramural funding
  • University-level teaching experience
  • Preparation for teaching students from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated experience with relevant teaching technologies
  • Ability to direct advanced undergraduate student research
  • Ability to direct graduate student research
  • Understanding of the mission and goals of the academic unit and SDSU

Responsibilities

  • Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in applied statistics and quantitative methods.
  • Develop and apply novel quantitative methods to real-world data across diverse psychology subfields.
  • Collaborate within the department and with external researchers to advance a vigorous research program and secure extramural funding.
