Job summary

UF Health Jacksonville is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager to support the Nurse Manager in supervising the nursing team, guiding clinical practice, and directing daily operations on the assigned unit. You will assist in hiring, evaluations, orientation, and performance improvement, and help manage budgets while promoting patient-centered care and exceptional service on the unit.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with active Florida RN license.
• BSN within 3 years of hire or transfer; grandfathered policies apply to certain employees.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.
• ACLS certification required for specified departments (see job description).
• PALS, NRP, and STABLE certifications required within defined timeframes for relevant units.
• Experience: 3–5 years of practicing RN in acute care.

Overview

The Assistant Nurse Manager serves as an adjunct to the Nurse Manager or Nursing Director by providing supervision and clinical expertise to staff in his/her assigned area. Assists the Nurse Manager in hiring and firing of nursing personnel, conducting periodic employee evaluations, orientation of new employees, and performance improvement activities. Assists the Nurse Manager in devising and managing the departmental budget(s). Facilitates positive customer service and patient-centered care on the nursing unit.

• Required Education: Associate's Degree. Specific coursework: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. New hires effective June 14, 2017, must have a BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position. New hires or transfers into the position between August 1, 2013 and June 13, 2017 must abide with the conditions in his or her offer letter and the verbiage in the job description signed upon hire or transfer into the position. For certifications that require a specified number of cases or hours worked within the specialty, the certification must be applied for once the case/time requirement has been met, and the certification must be obtained within one year of the requirement having been met (e.g. oncology, chemotherapy, diabetes education).
• Required Experience: 3-5 years - Practicing RN in acute care.
