The Assistant 7 Hour Student Nutrition follows all Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Student Nutrition Services (SNS) guidelines and procedures. The Assistant 7 Hour Student Nutrition performs manual work in the preparation, serving and cashiering of federal reimbursable meals and a la carte foods to students and staff, under immediate supervision.

Responsibilities
- Assists student during meal service, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and school rules while circulating through the cafeteria.
- Prepares, cooks, and serves all food items, including hot and cold items, ensuring correct portion sizes and replenishing the serving line.
- Takes and records food temperatures; follows corrective action procedures if foods are not in safe zones.
- Sets up serving line, obtains paper products and utensils, and presents food attractively.
- Provides friendly customer service, acknowledges students by name, and encourages healthy food choices.
- Enters meal components correctly, documents emergency meal transactions, handles cash/checks, checks dietary alerts, and follows end-of-day cash procedures.
- Receives, checks-in, and stocks food; checks-out for production; maintains orderly storage areas.
- Maintains program accountability, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local rules and proper documentation for production records, HACCP, meal accountability, and cash procedures.
- Circulates to assist students, promotes good table manners, and encourages balanced meals and trying new foods.
- Assists SNS staff with student special diet requests and ensures correct foods are provided.
- Supports food tastings with SNS manager and staff, offering samples and gathering feedback.
- Prepares and cleans allergy-free tables; maintains clean cafeteria environment and ready-to-serve conditions.
- Ensures serving line and equipment are clean and properly stored; assists with kitchen and storage area cleanup.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Reasoning Ability: follows detailed instructions and solves problems in standardized situations.

Physical Demands
- Walking, standing, stooping, squatting, handling, talking, hearing, tasting, smelling, and keyboarding.
- Lifting up to 35 pounds.
- Reaching with both hands; overhead.
- Environment: noise level may be loud; exposure to extreme temperatures and moving parts.
