Job summary

CIM Group in Los Angeles, CA seeks an Investments Portfolio Oversight professional to lead strategy, acquisition analysis, and asset management across real estate and infrastructure assets. This role partners with CIM's investment teams to maximize fund performance and communicate results to investors.

Requirements include 4+ years in real estate or infra, MBA preferred, strong financial modeling, MS Office, and travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of prior experience in Real Estate, Infrastructure, Investment Banking, or related field.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time, domestically and internationally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Demonstrated experience with financial modeling.
  • Familiarity with and ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex legal documents such as fund organizational documents and side letters.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to respond clearly and concisely to a wide range of audiences.
  • Ability to interact effectively with both internal and external parties on complicated topics and sensitive matters.
  • Capability to calculate, analyze, and explain real estate and/or infrastructure return metrics.
  • Ability to comprehend and analyze general economic data and statistics.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Oversight: act as subject matter expert on the strategy and underlying investments.
  • Acquisition analysis: evaluate risk/return and potential fit of new investments.
  • Portfolio Composition Review: translate top-down strategy into acquisition and disposition decisions.
  • Develop and maintain target portfolio allocations by sector, market, and risk profile.
  • Monitor concentration limits, diversification targets, liquidity needs, and alignment with investor guidelines.
  • Evaluate market, valuation, and capital market trends to inform portfolio positioning.
  • Develop hold/sell analyses across the portfolio.
  • Asset Management: oversee and monitor the performance of all assets in the portfolio.
  • Track progress of each investment against its business plan.
  • Collaborate with other CIM departments to make recommendations for asset‑level decisions.
  • Hold internal groups accountable for delivering business plan objectives.
  • Review and share recommendations on annual budgets and business plans.
  • Review and present quarterly third‑party appraisals to senior management.
  • Provide detailed and regular updates to investors and internal stakeholders.
  • Reporting & Fundraising: support the needs of existing and prospective partners and co‑investors.
  • Market research.
  • Investor and consultant reporting (quarterly variance analysis, update reports, etc.).
  • Assist in developing presentations and materials for marketing and due diligence.
  • Participate in partner and co‑investor meetings, calls, and tours.
  • Participate in due diligence meetings.
  • Investor negotiation (side letters, closings).
  • Product development – assist with new product creation, launch of new funds and co‑investment opportunities.
  • Mentorship and work oversight for 1+ PO Associates/Analysts.

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Investments Group at CIM is comprised of investments and portfolio management professionals working collaboratively to source, structure and execute new investments, and ensure that investment and fund performance aligns with the fund objectives. The Portfolio Oversight function leads coordinated efforts to design the composition of CIM’s funds, maximize the value of its investments to drive fund performance, and communicate ongoing fund performance to investors and prospective investors. As a critical part of the Investment Group, this position will provide portfolio oversight support to a subset of funds and/or investment vehicles within the firm’s Real Estate Equity and/or Infrastructure platforms, in partnership with the lead PO. Additionally, this role will offer significant exposure to CIM’s wide range of investment platforms active in principal investing across the Real Assets industry.

Actual base salary considers several factors including geography, job‑related knowledge, experience, and budget. The start of the salary range is typically associated with the minimum experience required. Base pay is part of the total compensation package. This role is eligible for bonus pay in addition to base salary. The anticipated base salary range for the position in Los Angeles, CA is $150,000 ‑ $180,000.
