At Pine Animal Hospital in Long Beach, California, our support staff take ownership of the work surrounding patient care, so veterinarians can focus on clinical decisions, practicing medicine, and performing medical and surgical procedures.

We are hiring a full-time associate veterinarian for our independently owned, doctor-led small animal hospital. Come meet the team, observe a normal clinical day, and see how our support fits the way you want to practice.

The role at a glance

• Small animal general practice and urgent care, including medical and surgical procedures
• Four 10-hour shifts per week, with regular weekend coverage included within those four days
• No overnight or on-call responsibilities
• Experienced veterinarians and motivated newer graduates considered
• On-site in Long Beach, California
• Our goal is a seven-day practice; weekend scheduling will be discussed during hiring

During a visit, you can meet the people you would work with, observe the workflow, and ask the questions that matter to you.

Our doctors have access to:

• In-house laboratory and same-visit diagnostics
• Digital and dental radiography
• Point-of-care ultrasound and rapid in-clinic cytology
• Integrated medical records with laboratory results, imaging, and reports
• Board-certified surgical support and cardiology, internal medicine, and radiology collaboration

Compensation and professional support

Compensation includes a guaranteed base with monthly production compensation calculated at 23%. Expected total annual compensation is $150,000-$200,000, depending on experience, schedule, caseload, and production.

Thoughtful diagnostics, honest communication, and ethical recommendations guide patient care. Doctors are trusted to use their clinical judgment; production does not dictate medical recommendations.

We provide high-quality conventional veterinary care alongside evidence-informed integrative options when appropriate for an individual patient. Our work spans general practice, urgent care, dentistry, surgery, wellness, and integrative medicine. The hospital also participates in clinical trials involving emerging diagnostic technologies, with clinical judgment and informed client communication guiding participation.

Bring your clinical interests and goals. For veterinarians who become a strong long-term clinical, cultural, and leadership fit, we are open to discussing a potential ownership or partnership pathway. Ownership is optional and is not guaranteed.

• DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree
• California veterinary license, or eligibility to obtain one
• Strong communication skills

• General practice and/or urgent care experience preferred, but fit matters more than years out of school
• Interest in dentistry, ultrasound, surgery, internal medicine, urgent care, integrative medicine, mentorship, leadership, or future ownership/partnership is welcomed
• Interest in practicing evidence-informed medicine while remaining open to appropriate integrative, complementary, and emerging diagnostic approaches
