At Bideawee, we offer veterinarians something a little different: the chance to practice with purpose. Here, your work goes beyond appointments. Every exam, every procedure, every moment of care brings a homeless pet closer to their forever family.

What Sets Us Apart
  • Mission over Metrics: Here, you won’t be told to squeeze in more appointments or upsell treatments. You’ll get to focus on helping animals who need you most.
  • Impact You Can See: Every procedure you perform here is a step toward a pet finding their forever family.
  • Community & Collaboration: Work alongside passionate colleagues who share your love for animals — no competition, just collaboration.
  • Balance & Well-Being: We believe in caring for our veterinarians, too. Reasonable schedules, supportive staff, and a culture of wellness are part of our mission.
  • Be Part of the Bigger Story: As part of Bideawee, your work directly reduces shelter overcrowding, promotes adoption, and creates healthier communities.

Find rewarding work in the shelter environment with resources for work‑ups and diagnostics available to help our animals find their forever homes. Join an organization that has been making the world a better place for pets and the people who love them since 1903!

Your Role

As part of our veterinary team, you’ll play a central role in bringing Bideawee’s mission to life. Every day offers a chance to use your skills to heal, comfort, and advocate for the animals who need you most. Make a direct and visible impact for pets and the people who care for them.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide compassionate, high‑quality medical and surgical care for shelter pets.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure every animal receives the best chance for a successful outcome.
  • Contribute to population health and help shape protocols that keep our shelters safe, sanitary, and thriving.
  • Guide and mentor staff and volunteers, fostering a supportive learning environment.
  • Partner with leadership to grow our programs and continuously improve how we care for animals and their people.
  • Represent Bideawee’s mission in the community and support outreach initiatives that keep pets healthy and families together.
  • Bring new ideas and best practices in veterinary medicine to our team.

  • Graduate with a DVM or VMD from a US accredited veterinary school.
  • NYS veterinary license.
  • DEA license or ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Shelter medicine experience preferred but not necessary. Surgical experience necessary.
  • Able to perform soft tissue surgeries including but not limited to spays and neuters of dogs and cats.
