Job summary

Chattyvets is partnering with an independent veterinary group in Watsonville, California to hire an Associate Veterinarian / Medical Director. The role offers general practice, surgery, and leadership in a state-of-the-art facility with in-house diagnostics and a collaborative team.

Base pay ranges from $150,000 to $250,000, depending on experience and level, with ProSal earnings, profit sharing, a sign-on bonus, relocation assistance, and comprehensive medical, dental and vision coverage.

Qualifications

• DVM or VMD from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
• Licensed or eligible to be licensed in California.
• Minimum 1 year of veterinary experience preferred – recent graduates also welcome.
• Strong surgical skills including routine spay/neuter and dentistry.
• A collaborative, client-focused approach with good clinical judgement.
• For Medical Director level: prior leadership or supervisory experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality general practice medicine across a varied caseload.
• Perform surgical procedures including spay/neuter, dentistry, mass removal, hernia repair and extractions.
• Advise clients on preventative care, vaccinations, nutrition and general animal health.
• Maintain excellent clinical records and client communication.
• Support and mentor veterinary technical staff.
• Contribute to the financial performance and growth of the hospital.
• Ensure compliance with the Veterinary Medical Board, AAHA standards and California regulations.
