The Susan M. Markel Veterinary Hospital is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join a collaborative team providing wellness, sick, and urgent care.

You will perform physical exams, plan treatments, and conduct routine surgeries in a high-energy shelter environment dedicated to no-kill care. Applicants should hold a DVM from an AVMA-accredited college and be eligible for Virginia licensure and a DEA license.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from an AVMA-accredited college.
• Virginia Veterinary License and DEA license in good standing (or ability to obtain).
• Commitment to no-kill philosophy and shelter medicine access to care.

Responsibilities

• Provide wellness, sick, and urgent care as part of a collaborative team.
• Perform routine surgeries, dentals, and sterilizations.
• Interpret diagnostics and maintain accurate medical records.
• Collaborate across departments to support HQHVSN or shelter medicine teams.
