Job summary

Cat & Dog Hospital of Columbia, a Heartland Veterinary Partners practice, is seeking a collaborative veterinarian to join a busy small animal team in Columbia, MD. You’ll be supported, mentored, and encouraged to grow while practicing high-quality medicine with a skilled team.

Qualifications

• DVM degree from an AVMA-accredited institution.
• Appropriate state licensure.
• DEA/BNDD eligibility.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Professional presentation with staff and clients.
• Ability to lift patients and equipment up to 25 lbs; with assistance over 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Examine and treat companion animals to detect and diagnose disease or injuries.
• Operate diagnostic equipment and collect samples; interpret results.
• Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
• Perform surgery and prescribe medications as needed.
• Provide counsel around end-of-life care.
• Maintain patients’ medical records.
• Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statutes, policies, and procedures.
