Job description

Associate Veterinarian – Full Time In Las Cruces, NM

Most veterinary job ads promise mentorship, balance, and growth. We believe those things should be real—not buzzwords. At our long-established, family-founded mixed-animal practice in Las Cruces, support means practicing alongside experienced doctors who genuinely want you to succeed, with the staff, tools, and structure in place to help you grow into the veterinarian you want to be.

We are seeking the right full-time Associate Veterinarian to join our team of three full-time DVMs with diverse professional interests. Both new graduates and experienced veterinarians are encouraged to apply.

Why You’ll Love Practicing Here

Mentorship That Meets You Where You Are
Whether you’re a new graduate looking for guidance or an experienced doctor wanting to expand your skills, mentorship is strongly encouraged and fully supported. We invest in your growth through a robust CE allowance, tailored learning opportunities aligned with your interests, and monthly in‑house education led by our doctors and guest speakers in a collaborative, supportive environment.

A Team That Truly Supports You

You’ll never practice alone here. Emergency coverage is handled through rotating on‑call shifts shared among associates, with assistant support and back‑up always available. After‑hours emergency care is limited to established clients, with initial triage provided by Animal HealthLink to ensure a sustainable and supported on‑call experience. Our core staff brings over 125 combined years of experience at this practice, includes 15+ veterinary technicians, and is supported by a full‑time Practice Manager focused on keeping workflows smooth and doctors supported.

Medicine & Surgery That Keeps You Engaged

This is a surgery‑forward practice with a diverse caseload that keeps medicine exciting. You’ll see everything from wellness and internal medicine to routine and advanced soft tissue surgery, orthopedics, large animal procedures, and dentistry. The clinic is fully equipped with an in‑house IDEXX laboratory, digital radiography (stationary, dental, and mobile), endoscopy, and a fully outfitted Bowie truck. We also offer integrative therapies including hydrotherapy, acupuncture, cold laser, chiropractic, and PEMF, with CCRT and CCRA on staff. An established satellite location in a nearby rural community provides additional variety and room to pursue individual interests.

Meaningful Community Impact

The practice proudly houses and administers The Schumacher Grant, a community‑based initiative supporting veterinary care for underserved pets, first‑responder K‑9 units, and local outreach programs. Doctors who are interested have opportunities to participate in meaningful community service and outreach throughout Las Cruces and Southern New Mexico, adding purpose and impact beyond day‑to‑day clinical work.

Life in Las Cruces

Las Cruces offers the warmth of a close‑knot community with the conveniences of a growing city. With a lower cost of living, a vibrant arts and food scene, and a relaxed pace of life, it’s an easy place to put down roots. Set between the Organ Mountains and the Rio Grande Valley, the area provides year‑round outdoor recreation including hiking, trail running, cycling, hunting, water sports, and access to skiing within a few hours’ drive—plus sunshine nearly every day of the year.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation includes a monthly base salary plus a percentage of monthly clinic gross, with additional bonus pay for each emergency call seen. Benefits include a 401(k) with employer matching, PTO and paid holidays, employee discounts for personal animals, a robust CE allowance with tailored growth opportunities, and coverage of VMA dues, DEA registration, and state license fees, all within a practice culture that prioritizes sustainability, balance, and long‑term career satisfaction.

Background checks and/or drug testing may be required due to ongoing contracts with law enforcement and working canine units.

DVM of equivalent with necessary licensing required. FT considered along with all experience levels.
