Jobbeschreibung

River Oaks Animal Hospital is looking for an experienced Associate Veterinarian to join our close-knit team in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We are an independently owned, AAHA-accredited hospital with a general practice + urgent care model, a beautiful modern facility, an exceptional support team, and a culture we are incredibly proud of.

We are a genuinely collaborative group. Our doctors discuss cases, review diagnostics together, ask each other questions, jump in when someone needs help, and—maybe most importantly—we actually really like each other. We work hard, practice high-quality medicine, laugh a lot, and believe that who you work with matters just as much as where you work.

Our support staff is experienced, capable, and actually utilized, allowing our veterinarians to focus on what they do best: being veterinarians. You will also have the support of an involved practice owner and management team who understand the realities of clinical practice and are committed to helping our doctors succeed.

This position offers a four-day workweek with built-in variety: two days of scheduled appointments, one dedicated urgent care day, and one surgery/dentistry day. Our GP + urgent care model provides the relationships and continuity of general practice while keeping medicine interesting with a diverse caseload. There are no weekends, no on-call responsibilities, and all major holidays are off.

For this position, we are specifically seeking a veterinarian with clinical experience who is comfortable practicing independently while also enjoying collaboration. We are currently mentoring a new graduate, so our next doctor should be able to step into the position with confidence while still having an entire team available whenever collaboration or a second opinion is helpful.

We have been intentional about building River Oaks into the kind of hospital where great people can practice great medicine without sacrificing their lives outside of work. Add in living in Myrtle Beach—where other people come to vacation—and we think we have created a pretty special place to work.

We aren't simply looking to fill a position. We're looking for the right person to become part of our team.

We're looking for an experienced veterinarian who is confident in their clinical abilities, passionate about providing exceptional patient care, and excited to be part of a genuinely collaborative team.

Qualifications
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an accredited veterinary college.
  • Current South Carolina veterinary license or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • Previous clinical experience in small animal medicine.
  • Confidence in independently managing routine wellness appointments, sick patients, and a variety of medical cases.
  • Proficiency in routine soft tissue surgery and dentistry, with an interest in continuing to develop these skills.
  • Comfortable with a combination of general practice and urgent care, including triaging patients, managing urgent cases, and recognizing when referral or emergency transfer is appropriate.
  • Commitment to high-quality medicine, Low-Stree principles, and AAHA standards of care.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build lasting relationships with clients and their pets.
Just as importantly, we're looking for someone who:
  • Enjoys collaborating with colleagues while being comfortable making independent medical decisions.
  • Values and respects the entire veterinary team and knows how to effectively utilize a skilled support staff.
  • Is compassionate, dependable, and committed to doing what's best for patients.
  • Is open to learning, sharing knowledge, and contributing to the professional growth of the team.
  • Brings a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, a sense of humor, and a genuine desire to be part of our hospital culture.

We're looking for someone who will not only be a great veterinarian but also make an already wonderful team even better.
