Our client is a privately owned veterinary hospital seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join their team on either a full-time or part-time basis in Millersville, Maryland. The hospital currently provides care for cats and dogs but is very open to expanding into additional species, such as pocket pets or exotics, depending on the incoming veterinarian’s interests. Originally established as a boarding facility, the practice has expanded over time to provide veterinary care.
As an Associate Veterinarian, you will provide high-quality, compassionate care across a balanced mix of sick and wellness appointments. Appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes, while drop-off cases are carefully controlled to ensure the team is not overwhelmed. Doctors currently have a dedicated surgery day with approximately three to five procedures, with the opportunity to grow the surgical and dental caseload over time. Surgical experience is welcomed but is not required. Scheduling can be highly flexible, with both full-time and part-time options available. Start and finish times are flexible, and doctors receive an hour-long lunch break. The hospital is focused on finding the right person rather than fitting someone into a predetermined schedule. The hospital is ideally seeking an experienced veterinarian but could consider a confident new graduate. They are looking for someone who enjoys building relationships with clients and patients, values teamwork and communication, and wants to contribute positively to the hospital.
The hospital is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm and Saturdays from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm for appointments only. The practice adheres to Fear Free principles and provides full-service veterinary care including wellness, surgery, dentistry, diagnostics, cold laser therapy, and urgent and emergency cases that can be managed in-house. The hospital is open to exploring telehealth opportunities. Rehabilitation has previously been offered, and the hospital has the capabilities and equipment to re-establish this service. There is also flexibility for an incoming veterinarian to pursue their own medical interests and help introduce or develop additional services. The hospital is equipped with a Sonoscape ProPet P60 ultrasound, CO₂ laser, cold therapy laser, digital radiography, LigaSure, a full in-house laboratory, dental X-ray, and an underwater treadmill that could be brought back into use for rehabilitation services.
The hospital currently has two veterinarians alongside a pool of relief veterinarians who regularly support the practice. The clinical team benefits from a strong support ratio of approximately 2.5 technician assistants per doctor, alongside a floating registered veterinary technician who also sees appointments and two managers. The hospital values collaboration, accountability, kindness, and continued growth, with leadership that welcomes ideas and input from the veterinary team. They are focused on finding the right person who will work well alongside the existing team and contribute positively to the culture.
