Atlas is excited to be working with a privately owned small-animal hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, that has been part of the community for over 40 years. The three-doctor practice is looking for another veterinarian to join their growing team. The caseload covers the variety of general practice, from wellness visits and medical workups to dentistry, spays, neuters and routine soft-tissue surgery. Surgery is generally scheduled on two mornings a week, with two to three procedures per session, leaving afternoons for consultations.
Six exam rooms, digital radiography, full-mouth dental X-rays, ultrasound and an in-house laboratory give you the equipment to investigate cases in-house. You'll also have dedicated technician and assistant support, with additional floating staff to help keep appointments and procedures running smoothly. One of the real strengths of this practice is its established team. Several staff members have been there for years, and the owner places considerable importance on treating employees well and maintaining a respectful working environment. Appointments are scheduled in 30-minute blocks, with a 1.5 to 2-hour lunch and administration period built into the day. That means time to review cases, complete records, discuss treatment plans and take a proper break rather than trying to squeeze everything in between consultations.
The role can be shaped around your clinical interests. If your strengths lie more in medicine and consultations, the owner is open to adjusting the division of cases rather than expecting every doctor to follow the same clinical mix. Experienced veterinarians can work with autonomy, while those needing further support can benefit from structured onboarding and mentorship. There is also no routine in-clinic emergency or on-call commitment, and only one rotating Saturday morning per month.
