Valley Animal Hospital in Clifton, NJ is seeking a full-time associate veterinarian to join our busy AAHA-certified practice.

You will practice high-quality medicine in a well-equipped hospital with Idexx, digital radiology, laser therapies, and a supportive nursing staff, with mentorship available to help you grow. The schedule is four days per week with rotating Saturday appointments; after-hours emergencies are referred elsewhere.

Job description

Valley Animal Hospital in Clifton, NJ is looking for a full time associate veterinarian to join our staff in our busy small animal, AAHA certified hospital. We are located in northeastern New Jersey, just a short drive/train ride to New York City, the Jersey Shore and the ski resorts of northwestern NJ. It is a great place to raise a family.

We are not a corporate owned practice and the owner/hospital director greatly values the input of associate veterinarians in to the way the practice is run. Special interests are greatly encouraged and supported. You get to practice high quality medicine and not worry about upselling clients wellness packages or memberships.

Mentorship is readily available for those associates who desire it. Your colleagues will give you all the encouragement and help you want, without stifling your ability to make decisions on your own

We are a well equipped hospital with Idexx blood machines, digital radiology (including dental), surgical laser, extracorporeal shockwave and therapeutic laser. We have a highly skilled, experienced nursing staff that allows the doctor to practice medicine and not have to draw all their own lab samples, take radiographs or put in IV catheters. Ultrasounds are performed by a consulting mobile service. We are a paperless practice using ezyVet software. Our clients are devoted to their pets, and are willing to pursue the best in diagnostic and therapeutic options. Special interests are encouraged and supported.

The practice owner is certified in canine rehabilitation, and we have an active rehabilitation department. The chance to become certified in rehabilitation is possible for those with an interest and dedication.

After hours emergencies are referred to one of the four local speciality/emergency hospitals within a 20 minute drive from our facility. Specialists are readily available for referral for difficult cases.

You will be paid a generous base salary ($120,000 - $150,000) plus bonuses based on production. There is no negative accrual in regards to the production bonus. Twenty five days of vacation, time off for continuing education, health insurance, association dues, retirement account, veterinary license fees, VIN membership and discounted pet care are all part of the compensation package.

The work schedule is four days a week, with the same weekday off every week. You will share Saturday appointments on a rotating basis with the other associates. The average work week will be 34 to 38 hours. There is a scheduled 1 hour lunch break each day. No on call, after hours responsibilities.

Veterinarians must have, or be eligible for, a New Jersey State Veterinary license and controlled drug licenses. Experience is preferred, but I am more than willing to mentor a new or recent graduate. We are looking for someone to start immediately, but are willing to wait for the right person.
