Job description

We are working on behalf of an independent, owner-operated small animal hospital in Lewiston, ME that is looking to welcome an Associate Veterinarian as the practice adds a second doctor to its close-knit team. This is a genuine opportunity to join a hospital with no corporate ownership and no corporate pressure, where the pace of your day is built around you rather than a production dashboard.

The practice runs Monday through Friday with no weekends, and full-time here means a four-day workweek, so you keep a real life outside the clinic. There are no overnights and no on-call. The owner is a hands-on mentor who loves to teach, which makes this a strong fit for new graduates as well as experienced DVMs who want support without giving up their autonomy. New grads start by shadowing, then move into cases at their own pace and choose which appointments and case types to take on as their confidence grows.

Clinically you will have access to digital radiography, dental X-ray, full dental capability, and a high-quality ultrasound with real-time remote guidance from the vendor. Surgery days run from routine spays and neuters through to more advanced soft-tissue work such as mass removals, with experienced technicians, assistants, and a practice manager supporting you. There are also strong relationships with nearby referral and specialty hospitals for complex cases. There is a rare chance to shape the hospital's future too, with an on-site expansion being planned around the incoming doctor's interests, whether that means a larger surgery suite or additional exam space. Set in southern Maine, you are roughly 45 minutes from Portland, the coast, lakes, and skiing, with a train link to Boston. With an excellent package on offer, including a very competitive salary, this opportunity is great for DVMs at all stages of their career. Get in touch today to learn more!

  • Well-equipped GP facility with digital radiography, dental X-ray, a full dental suite, and high-quality ultrasound with remote vendor guidance
  • Surgery ranging from routine procedures to advanced soft-tissue work such as mass removals
  • Real input into an upcoming hospital expansion designed around your clinical interests

  • Part-time (three-day) schedules will also be considered
