Job summary

Willdan Group is seeking an Associate Traffic Engineer to join our California traffic engineering and transportation planning practice. You will contribute to a wide range of projects for municipal and regional clients, delivering practical, data-driven transportation solutions that enhance mobility and safety.

This role suits engineers building toward licensure; California PE license is encouraged. Candidates with EIT and pursuing PE are also welcomed to apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in traffic engineering or transportation design.
• Engineering-in-Training (EIT) certification with the ability to obtain PE licensure.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or Civil 3D.
• Working knowledge of the California MUTCD, Highway Design Manual, Caltrans Standard Plans and Specifications, and local agency design standards.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Traffic signal plans.
• Signing, striping, and pavement marking plans.
• Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) plans.
• Street lighting plans and photometric analyses.
• Prepare Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) packages for transportation improvement projects.
• Traffic Operations and Analysis: Support traffic impact studies, safety evaluations, and memoranda; develop timing plans and analyses; conduct field investigations; perform capacity and operational analyses using Synchro; assist in evaluating multimodal improvements.
