Job summary

Discovery Behavioral Health is seeking an Associate Therapist to join a dynamic multidisciplinary team in Orange, CA. The role includes providing therapy sessions, milieu interventions, psychoeducational groups, and clinical assessments within the Discovery Clinical Model.

Responsibilities include ensuring patient safety, maintaining documentation, discharge planning, and collaboration with treatment teams and families.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctorate degree in a relevant field is required.
• Must meet state requirements to conduct therapeutic interventions.
• Operates under supervision and is not fully licensed.
• Must possess a current driver's license and be in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Ensures clinical documentation is completed timely throughout the course of treatment.
• Establishes therapeutic rapport with patients and families.
• Facilitates admission assessments and the admission process for new patients.
• Works to provide expeditious access to care for individuals seeking services.
• Participates in weekly treatment team and communicates goals with the team.
• Maintains a caseload of 5-6 RTC and 10-15 OP level patients.
• Completes therapy sessions weekly, including family sessions.
• Leads process-oriented and psychoeducational groups daily in RTC and OP.
• Sits at meals/snacks at least once per week.
• Facilitates multi-family groups, family programs, and/or family weekends.
• Provides utilization reviews to insurance for authorization needs.
• Contacts family members promptly and manages communications.
• Assesses suicidality and safety risks.
• Provides clinical support when others are unavailable.
• Communicates with UR and Business regarding authorization and payment.
• Begins discharge planning on admission and completes discharge sessions.
• Ensures discharge appointments are confirmed with patients and families.
• Coordinates with referral sources and outpatient providers for continuity of care.
• Facilitates transfers to higher care levels as needed.
• Participates in clinical outreach and program tours as needed.
• Manages crises in sessions and milieu.
• Supports milieu staff in interactions with patients and families.
• Collaborates with the care team to maintain clinical quality.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.
• RTC Only: On-call support at least 1x per month and returns calls within 20 minutes when on call.
