Position Summary
EditCo Bio is seeking an Associate Territory Manager to drive adoption of our genomics and biotechnology solutions across Southern California. This is an early-career field sales role designed for someone who is motivated to build a territory, develop customer relationships, and grow into a successful commercial sales professional.
This is a true territory sales role with direct ownership of customer relationships, pipeline development, quota attainment, and long-term account growth—not an inside sales or overlay support position. The Associate Territory Manager will own an individual sales quota and manage a dedicated book of business, with responsibility for prospecting, developing, and expanding customer relationships throughout the assigned territory.
The initial focus of this role will be on establishing relationships within leading academic research institutions to build long-term mindshare with principal investigators, laboratory managers, researchers, core facilities, and scientific thought leaders. Success in this role requires becoming a visible and trusted partner within the research community by creating opportunities to educate scientists on EditCo Bio's technologies through laboratory visits, scientific seminars, lunch-and-learn programs, department presentations, and campus events. The territory will also include opportunities to expand into emerging biotechnology companies that have not yet adopted EditCo Bio's solutions, creating a strong pipeline of new business opportunities.
This position is ideal for an ambitious sales professional who enjoys building relationships, creating opportunities from the ground up, and working independently while collaborating closely with an experienced commercial team.
Essential Responsibilities
- Own an individual sales quota and achieve territory revenue objectives.
- Develop, manage, and grow a dedicated portfolio of academic customers.
- Prospect and identify new business opportunities within universities, research institutes, and hospitals.
- Build trusted relationships with principal investigators, laboratory managers, researchers, core facilities, procurement teams, and scientific decision-makers.
- Develop and execute strategic territory business plans to drive revenue growth, account penetration, and long-term customer engagement.
- Plan, organize, and host scientific seminars, lunch-and-learn programs, departmental presentations, and educational events to increase awareness and adoption of EditCo Bio's technologies.
- Coordinate and represent EditCo Bio at university tabletop exhibits, campus research events, scientific symposiums, and regional conferences to generate new customer opportunities and strengthen existing relationships.
- Conduct customer meetings, product demonstrations, scientific presentations, and consultative solution-based sales discussions.
- Establish long-term mindshare with key opinion leaders and influential members of the academic research communities.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline, forecast opportunities accurately, and document customer activity within Salesforce CRM.
- Collaborate closely with Marketing, Scientific Support, Customer Success, and Commercial Operations to execute territory campaigns and deliver an exceptional customer experience.
- Maintain current knowledge of genome engineering, genomics technologies, competitive offerings, and industry trends.
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.

- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence customers.
- Highly organized with strong time management and territory planning skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems (Salesforce experience preferred).
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel throughout the assigned territory.
Preferred
- Previous experience selling into academic research institutions or biotechnology organizations.
- Experience working with genomics, molecular biology, proteomics, life science research products, or related technologies.

- Approximately 60-75% travel, primarily within the assigned territory.
- Occasional overnight travel for customer meetings, national sales meetings, product training, and industry conferences.
- Ability to independently travel by automobile and commercial airline as business needs require.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Frequently travel by automobile between customer sites throughout Southern California.
