Job summary

Aligned Data Centers is seeking a technical contributor to support the engineering team on telecommunications topics across multiple data center projects. You will collaborate with design teams to ensure compliance with Div.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an RCDD with data center/construction experience.
  • TIA-942 data center telecom experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of telecom systems, protocols and industry standards.

Overview

This role will support the engineering team on Aligned’s technical topics and matters and will work directly with internal and external design teams to ensure technical compliance. As a technical contributor, you will perform responsibilities ranging from early‑stage design to validating installed conditions, to yearly site assessments, and evaluating next‑level technologies. You will work cross‑functionally to raise Aligned’s technical capabilities and enhance performance across multiple work streams.

Responsibilities
  • Support and develop the strategic roadmap for telecommunications operations, aligning it with business objectives and industry best practices.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory requirements related to telecommunications in the data center industry.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement, leveraging new technologies and solutions to enhance telecommunications services.
  • Support design, installation, and commissioning of telecommunications infrastructure within the data center, ensuring compliance with Div. 27.00 specifications and standards.
  • Ensure standards and specifications are adhered to during the bid phase and that contractors meet installation and test requirements prior to handover.
  • Review each phase of design deliverables and support conceptual/directional design decisions at inception.
  • Collaborate with IT, Operations, Sales and security teams to ensure seamless integration of telecommunications systems.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and security protocols in all telecommunications infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee the design, installation, and commissioning of the AV and security infrastructure within the data centers (Div. 28.00 specifications).
  • Perform periodic site physicals, robust assessments of site operations, and select testing to ensure best possible uptime and reliability.
  • Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of telecommunications systems to meet customer SLAs and business needs.
  • Coordinate technical investigations and asset assessments for customer pursuits when deviations from designs or standards are required.
  • Maintain relationships with telecommunications vendors and service providers, coordinate timely delivery of equipment, services and support, and report vendor performance to management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, similar, or RCDD with applicable data center/construction experience.
  • Experience in TIA‑942 data center telecommunications, and general campus/building ICT design standards.
  • Technical knowledge of telecommunications systems, protocols, and industry standards.
  • Experience with large‑scale network design, deployment, and management.
  • General understanding of data center infrastructure or construction.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with AutoCAD or Revit.
