Job summary

EssilorLuxottica seeks a Manufacturing Associate to support coating, finishing, and surfacing operations in a fast-paced lens production environment. You will clip, load, inspect, tint, edge, and mount lenses, ensuring precise fit and optical quality across multiple stations.

Responsibilities include setup of coating, edging, and surfacing equipment, handling lenses with care, and documenting process steps. Overtime may be required in a dynamic, quality-driven facility in New York area.

Qualifications

  • Able to work in a fast-paced production environment and communicate with team members.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions in English.
  • Basic arithmetic and numerical sequencing with decimal understanding.
  • Requires visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Demonstrates planning, organization, multitasking, and good judgment.
  • Must be able to stand for 10-12 hours and perform repetitive motions.

Responsibilities

  • Coating: clip lenses, operate coating machine, load/unload lenses, inspect post-coating.
  • Finishing: mount lenses, edge and trim to fit frames, tint lenses.
  • Surfacing: prepare lenses for surfacing, tape and secure, operate surfacing & polishing equipment.
  • Operate various edging machines and mounting methods for correct lens fit.
  • Taping and blocking steps for lens handling; ensure quality checks throughout processes.

The primary focus of this position is to perform duties in a manufacturing environment, within areas include Surfacing, Finishing, and Coating. All duties and procedures are to be performed according to the established standard and in compliance with all company and governing body policies. It is required that this position maintain regular, prompt attendance and availability for overtime as needed. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coating

Clipping: Clip and secure lenses into baskets to begin the coating process

Machine Operator: Prepare and operate the coating machine to coat the lenses properly

Load and unload sectors with lenses

Inspection: Inspect lenses prior to and immediately after coatings process to ensure that they are optically, cosmetically accurate, and in compliance with work ticket

Sandblasting: Disassemble and clean machines daily including the sandblasting of the parts

Finishing

Mounting: Accurately apply drill holes to the lenses to ensure proper fit and alignment of the lenses and insert lenses into the frame while ensuring proper fit. May utilize the bevel wheel to remove the sharp edges of the lens

Edging Operator: Operate a variety of edging machines to cut lenses down to proper size and shape to fit the appropriate frame

Finish Layout: prepare an uncut lens for the edging process by outlining the center/alignment markings and affixing the chuck/block

Tinting: Accurately tint all lenses going through the tinting department

Surfacing

Lens Preparation: Prepare Lens for surfacing process which includes de-boxing of product, taping exposed lens, and tray up

Machine Operator

Taping: Operate taping equipment to apply protective tape to the front of the lenses

Surfacing Blocker: Utilize the blocking machine to accurately secure a block to all lenses going through the surfacing department

Generator Operator: Operate the generator machine used to cut the lenses to the correct prescription

Surface Finer/Polisher: Operate the equipment used to fine and polish all lenses going through the surfacing department

Spin Coat Operator: Operate the coating machine to apply spin coat and perform a cosmetic inspection of the lenses

Lens Washer: Hand wash and dry lenses followed by a brief cosmetic inspection of the lenses. Grasp lens with de‑blocking cup and strike against table to remove block from lenses. Remove tape from lenses

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Able to work in a fast‑paced production environment and regularly work with and communicate with others in a team
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence in English.
  • Basic ability to add, subtract, understand decimal numerical sequencing, and accurately compare number and letter sequences
  • Requires use of close vision, color vision, peripheral vision,depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Capable of coordinated use of hands and fingers to grasp, feel objects, transfer small items from one hand to another, fine manipulation,and bilateral reach with arms
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement interpret,goals,objectives, policies and procedures of the organization, multi‑task, prioritize, and use good judgement
  • Able to stand in one place for 10-12 hours a day
  • Capable of completing activities that include repetitive motions
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School education or equivalent
  • Previous related experience and/or training

Pay Range:19.79 -28.37
