Job summary

Unalaska City School District is seeking a paraprofessional to support classroom instruction in a rural Alaskan setting. You will prepare and teach lessons as assigned, organize materials, and assist with assessments while fostering a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and teaches lessons as assigned.
• Organizes existing materials and creates new materials to help meet learning objectives.
• Evaluates, assesses, and assigns grades to student work as appropriate.
• Maintains a positive learning atmosphere in the classroom.
• Performs non-instructional duties such as supervising snack, restroom, dress, play, lunch, assemblies, and field trips.
• Participates in in-service training programs.
• Checks and records student attendance.
• Maintains high ethical standards and confidentiality of student information.

• 6. Ability to work with students in a school setting.
• 7. Ability to carry out instructional activities with a minimum of direct supervision.
• 8. At least one year of demonstrated successful experience as a Teacher Aide preferred.
• 9. Ability to live and work in a cross-cultural, rural Alaskan environment.
• 10. Required participation in District Teacher Preparation Program
• 11. Ability to carry out successfully the duties described below.
