Associate Substation Structural Engineer

Leidos Engineering seeks an Associate Substation Structural Engineer with a minimum of 2 years experience in design engineering for utilities or utility consulting companies. The role focuses on direct design of civil/structural components for substation projects, supporting bid and construction package development.

Responsibilities

• Design steel, concrete, and geotechnical structures, including foundations and rigid bus works for substations.
• Perform design calculations and develop construction‑grade engineering drawings independently under the supervision of a licensed civil engineer.
• Apply industry codes and standards, including seismic loading requirements.
• Conduct site visits to client substation facilities and travel as needed for client meetings and industry events.
• Maintain quality control and safe work practices while meeting project scope, schedule, and budget expectations.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil‑Structural Engineering with 2+ years of experience, or M.S. with 1+ year of relevant experience.
• EIT preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Mathcad, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, RISA 3D, FAD, SAFE, SAG10, LPile, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
• Strong analytical and technical writing skills.
• Team player who can communicate effectively with clients and staff.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Pay Range
