Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Jupiter, FL is seeking an Associate, Structural Engineering to support aircraft modifications through structural analysis and documentation to ensure airworthiness. You will assess stresses, apply failure theories, and provide design support.

A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or related field) or recent graduation within 12 months is required. Security clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or completed degree in ME/AE or related field within 12 months.
• Experience with CAD/FEA tools and mechanical analysis, design support.
• Ability to apply structural mechanics to predict stresses and instabilities.

Job Description:

• Structural analysis ofaircraftmodifications, including design support, and preparation of technical documentation necessary to ensure airworthiness
• Determination of stress levels in primary and secondaryaircraftstructure, systems, and equipment resulting from applied and induced loads, as well as the comparison of these stresses with material properties to predict failure and structural instabilities givendue considerationto applicable failure theories

Qualifications:

• To be eligible, applicants must be pursuing aBachelor’sdegree Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Mechanics,Materials ScienceEngineeringor related field or have completed theirBachelor’sdegree within the last 12months,regardlessof age.

Preferred Skills:

• CAD or analysis (FEA) tools exposure, and/or experience in mechanical design or analysis of electronic systems,structuresand mechanisms
• Familiarity withtransducerinstrumentation, data collection and or automation and software programming for numerical analysis
• Must be able to apply the principles of Structural Mechanics to predict internal stresses and structural instabilities
• Must be able to generate free body diagrams,determinereaction forces, calculate internal loads, and develop shear and moment diagrams
• Working knowledge of one programming language
• Familiarity with finite element methods and fatigue and damage tolerance principles
