Job summary

WSP is seeking an Associate Structural Engineer in Los Angeles, CA to contribute to the design of diverse structures and support projects through all development stages. The role involves collaboration with the Property and Buildings Team and other engineering professionals to deliver safe, robust designs.

The ideal candidate has a structural/ civil engineering background with 1–3 years of post-educational experience, proficiency in design software, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering and 1–3 years of post-education experience.
• Knowledge of structural engineering principles and design/build processes.
• Familiarity with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
• Experience with SAFE, ETABS, RAM Structural Systems, Sp Column, AutoCAD, Revit, Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work with cross-functional teams.
• Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural design for concrete, CMU, steel, light-frame wood, and mass timber structures.
• Develop retrofitting or resiliency assessments for existing buildings.
• Create data visuals, tables, charts, and 2D/3D illustrations for findings.
• Coordinate with teams via meetings, BIM modeling, and site notebooks.
• Ensure quality and safety in design work in line with standards.
