Under the direct supervision and guidance of qualified Sterile Processing personnel, performs entry-level sterile processing duties while completing required facility-based clinical training, orientation, and competency validation. The Associate Sterile Processing Technician has completed the didactic portion of an approved sterile processing education program and applies this foundational knowledge during supervised clinical training after hire.
Participates in the cleaning, decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable medical devices and surgical instrumentation in accordance with facility policies, manufacturers' Instructions for Use, and applicable standards and guidelines. Performs assigned duties within demonstrated competency and progressively assumes additional responsibilities as training and competency requirements are completed.
