Job summary

Simpson Strong-Tie is seeking an Associate Shipper/Receiver in Jacksonville, FL to ship, receive and stock finished goods for customer orders. Pull orders with a PDA, generate bills of lading and labels, keep a clean work area, and complete required training.

Requires a high school diploma or GED, forklift certification, DOT HazMat training, and 0-3 months warehouse experience. You will operate forklifts and related equipment in a safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Powered Industrial Truck Certification required (will certify at hire).
• DOT HazMat Training required (will certify at hire).
• 0-3 months of warehouse, logistics, and/or shipping experience required.
• Equipment: Operate forklift, reach truck, order picker, and electric pallet jack.
• Safety: Ability to prioritize safety by demonstrating safe work practices and promoting a safe work environment.
• Mathematical Reasoning: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiple and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
• Ability to Work Independently: Follow both written and oral instructions, including safety guidelines, work instructions, and company policies.
• Attendance: Able to consistently demonstrate reliable, punctual attendance in accordance with our attendance policy.
• Communication Skills: Speak in the most effective way to relay information to all departments and at all levels within the organization. Listen and ask questions to ensure understanding.
• Quality Standards Knowledge: Demonstrate an understanding of company quality standards and company quality control processes.
• Problem Solving: Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists
• Teamwork: Ability to work with other team members to accomplish group goals

YOU

As an Associate Shipper/Receiver, you will be responsible for shipping, receiving, and stocking finished goods needed to fulfill customer orders.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)

• Pull customer orders using a Personal Digital Assistant and palletize product. (70%)
• Generate bills of lading, reports and labels. (15%)
• Maintain a clean work environment. (10%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This role operates large equipment and needs to constantly position self to maintain the operation of equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Regularly works around moving mechanical parts. The noise level is loud. The job may risk exposure to dust, heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions.
