The position is within the subject area of Informatics, which at the University of Skövde, is defined as the science that studies how information is represented, processed and communicated in artificial and natural systems and how such systems are used and developed in order to achieve usable and effective applications and solutions for individuals, organizations or society. Informatics is an expanding field, and we are looking for new colleagues who are keen to contribute to the development of our teaching and research activities

Your role

The position as Associate Senior Lecturer is a career development position aimed at promotion to a permanent position as Senior Lecturer. The Associate Senior Lecturer is given the opportunity to develop an independent research profile and to gain both scientific and pedagogical merits in order to meet the eligibility requirements for appointment as Senior Lecturer. The position is fixed-term for four years and is full‑time. An individual development plan will be established to support the Associate Senior Lecturer career development. During the period of employment, the Associate Senior Lecturer may apply for promotion to Senior Lecturer once the eligibility requirements have been fulfilled. Subject to a successful promotion, the position will become permanent.

You will be employed at the Division of Computer and Systems Science and be part of the Interaction Lab research group. Within Interaction Lab, research is conducted with a strong user‑centred focus, particularly in the areas of autonomous systems and human‑robot interaction. Within this field, you will have the opportunity over time to develop your own research direction, for example in areas such as interaction with industrial robots, interaction with social robots, or driver support systems in vehicles. You are also expected to contribute to teaching Informatics at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The main duties associated with the position are:

• Research in human interaction with autonomous systems.
• Teaching in Informatics.

Additional duties may be assigned as part of the role.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who have:

• A doctoral degree in Informatics or a closely related field, or equivalent scientific competence. Priority will be given to applicants who have been awarded a doctoral degree or have achieved equivalent competence no more than five years prior to the application deadline.
• Documented ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Documented ability to collaborate with others.

The following assessment criteria will also be taken into account in the appointment process:

Of highest importance are:

• The extent to which the applicant demonstrates the competencies required to meet the eligibility criteria.
• Experience of research in human‑robot interaction, human‑computer interaction, or user experience design.
• Strong ability to independently plan and organise one’s work.

Of second highest importance are:

• Experience of research on human interaction with autonomous systems.
• Good knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative research methods.
• Ability to apply for and secure external research funding in competitive settings.
• Strong ability to establish and develop contacts and networks.
• Good ability to plan, deliver and examine courses.

Also of importance are:

• Good ability to communicate in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to supervise students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Type of employment:

The position is a fixed‑term appointment for four years. During the period of employment, an Associate Senior Lecturer may apply for promotion to Senior Lecturer upon meeting the required qualifications. If promotion is granted, the position will become a permanent appointment.
