Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. is seeking an Associate Scientist / Postdoctoral Fellow in Epidemiology to advance public health research across human and animal health domains.

You will conduct literature reviews, perform meta-analyses, and help build AI-assisted tools for evidence synthesis. The role requires a PhD in Epidemiology (or related field) by spring 2027, strong analytical skills, and a track record of peer-reviewed publications.

Qualifications

  • Must currently hold a PhD OR receive a PhD no later than spring 2027.
  • PhD in Epidemiology (highly preferred), or related field.
  • Proficiency in epidemiological methods and study design and conduct, including data analysis.
  • Experience in systematic literature review and meta-analysis.
  • Experience in using AI tools for research and data analysis.
  • Record of research publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct targeted and systematic literature reviews, including quantitative synthesis and meta-analysis.
  • Develop a fit-for-purpose risk-of-bias assessment tool for pulmonary hypertension studies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop an AI-enabled evidence synthesis platform.
  • Develop study protocols, perform epidemiologic analyses and prepare final reports.
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication and present findings at conferences.

They will be involved in a variety of research activities aimed at advancing our understanding of epidemiology and contributing to our company's mission.
