Job summary

Servier in the U.S. is seeking a lab-based Associate Scientist to join the Boston Pharmacology Team. You will contribute to cancer biology programs, progress in vivo studies via local CROs, and collaborate with project leaders in a matrixed environment.

Qualifications

  • BS with 6+ years post-degree in cancer biology (or MS with 3+ years).
  • Drug discovery experience preferred.
  • Mammalian cell culture with cell line engineering experience.
  • CRISPR-based design and execution experience a plus.
  • In vivo tumor models experience is advantageous.
  • Ability to design and interpret well-controlled experiments and communicate results.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide variety of cell-based assays, including western blot, qPCR, ELISAs, reporter assays, flow cytometry, co-culture assays, CRISPR- and/or RNAi-mediated functional genomics.
  • Execute or support genetic or pharmacological studies to identify, validate, and advance novel targets.
  • Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot medium- and high-throughput cell-based assays to support screening and/or compound progression.
  • Provide in vitro and ex vivo support and analyses for in vivo pharmacology studies.
  • Document, analyze, interpret, and communicate experimental results to multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Collaborate with scientists in other functional areas to drive program decisions.
  • Provide technical cancer biology expertise to project teams as needed.

Role Summary

Servier is seeking to hire a lab-based Associate Scientist to join the U.S. Pharmacology Team where they will contribute to the progression of research projects and support the conduct of in vivo studies carried out at Boston-area CROs. The candidate will work closely with project leaders and within multidisciplinary teams to explore new cancer targets, elucidate drugging strategies, and discover and optimize novel therapeutics that will help define our future oncology portfolio. As a member of a highly dynamic and matrixed group they will and have the opportunity to work on both translational and exploratory research programs.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform a wide variety of cell-based assays, including but not limited to western blot, qPCR, ELISAs, reporter assays, growth/phenotypic assays, flow cytometry, co-culture assays, CRISPR- and/or RNAi-mediated functional genomics, etc.
  • Execute or support genetic or pharmacological studies to identify, validate, and advance novel targets.
  • Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot medium- and high-throughput cell-based assays to support screening and/or compound progression.
  • Provide in vitro and ex vivo support and analyses for in vivo pharmacology studies
  • Effectively and efficiently document (ELN), analyze, interpret, and communicate experimental results to relevant, multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Collaborate closely with scientists in other functional areas to identify, plan, and execute key experiments to drive program decisions.
  • May provide technical and/or cancer biology expertise to relevant project teams.
Education and Required Skills

Experienced cancer biologist with relevant industry/academic experience (years post-degree: BS 6+, MS 3+).

Previous drug discovery experience will be favourably considered.

Skilled in mammalian cell culture with extensive hands-on experience with cell line engineering and an array of cellular and molecular biology techniques.

Design and experimental expertise with CRISPR-based technologies is a plus.

Previous work with in vivo tumor models is favoured but not required

Ability to work independently to design and execute well-controlled, high-quality scientific experiments, interpret and summarize the results, and effectively communicate those results to the team.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to excel in a collaborative, cross-functional, team environment.

Able to quickly adapt, execute, and thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving biotech environment.

Travel and Location

This is a lab-based role, so being on-site full-time is required.

Option to attend one relevant scientific congress per year.

Salary Range

The salary range for this role is $106,000-$120,000. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. Employees in this position are also eligible for Short-Term and Long-Term incentive programs.
