Job summary

A leading biotechnology company in Cambridge, Massachusetts is seeking a dedicated Associate Scientist to join their Chemistry team. Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Associate Scientist to join our Chemistry team in developing next-generation RNA medicines. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, passionate about early-discovery work, eager to learn, and capable of adapting flexibly to a dynamic work environment.

Please note this is a full-time onsite opportunity

Responsibilities
  • Independently performs a variety of moderate to complex QC testing to support internal synthesis, biology, bioanalytical, and CMC activities in an R&D setting. Contributes to the expansion of QC capabilities by contributing to continuous method improvement and implementation of new analytical tests.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of analytical testing (U/HPLC, LC-MS, endotoxin, spectroscopy, etc.) to support method implementation and routine testing.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation such as Cary UV-Vis, Endosafe nexgen-MCS, osmometer, pH meter, Agilent LC-QTOF, and other state-of-the-art laboratory equipment, ensuring their proper use and performance.
  • Closely work with internal research departments to communicate timelines and facilitate QC requests.
  • Track progress, generate status updates, organize experimental data, and present in both written and oral formats at cross-functional team meetings.
  • Prepare SOPs and accurately record detailed experimental procedures and results in electronic lab notebooks. Peer review data related to chemistry testing.
Qualifications
  • BS in Chemistry or a related field.
  • At least 1-2 years of chemistry lab experience in an industrial or academic setting, preferably in RNA therapeutics.
  • Knowledge of analytical chemistry and/or oligonucleotide chemistry, including purity analysis by LC-MS, analysis of impurities, and characterization of compounds by mass spectrometry etc.
