Job summary

Fresenius Kabi in Grand Island, NE seeks an Associate Scientist to coordinate routine and project testing in microbiology, training staff and supporting quality systems. The role requires overseeing environmental monitoring, approving testing paperwork and contributing to annual reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • 1–3 years’ experience in a similar discipline.
  • Experience with high‑speed manufacturing machinery design and operation preferred.
  • Working knowledge of MS Project preferred.
  • Understanding of plant mechanical and electrical systems; ability to read drawings preferred.
  • Must have excellent problem solving and communications skills.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks preferred.
  • Computerized and automation control system familiarity preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Gram Staining.
  • Monitors and tracks laboratory results.
  • Trains new department personnel on SOPs.
  • Provides validation test support.
  • Performs environmental monitoring and routine testing of in-process and finished products.
  • Performs routine analysis related to testing and release of Raw Material, In-Process Finished Product, and Stability.
  • Assists in execution of equipment and method validation.
  • Reviews data generated by QC technicians and approves testing paperwork.
  • Assists in compiling data for Annual Reports.
  • Assumes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Must be trained and qualified in PPE usage (respirators).
  • Investigates and resolves nonconforming test results.

Job description

Job Summary

This position reports to the supervisor for the functional area to which they are assigned and has no direct reports. The Associate Scientist position works closely with other departments, such as Operations, Validations, Product Development, Quality Systems, Product Release and Chemistry to assure the support of the Microbiology department on various projects, studies and routine tasks.

The individual holding the position of Associate Scientist shall be responsible for coordinating the timely completion of routine and project testing. This person will also be responsible for coordinating the timely completion of routine and special finished product testing and environmental issues. They will assist with the training of Production and Quality Control personnel in microbiological tests and methods. Must be available to work overtime as necessary.

Salary Range: $23.45/hour +$2.00/hour shift differential

Hours: 6PM-6:30AM; 1 rotating weekday, Saturday-Sunday

Final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to experience level, education, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree and 1-3 years’ experience in a similar discipline required.

  • Experience with high-speed manufacturing machinery design and operation preferred.

  • Working knowledge of project management and experience using MS Project preferred.

  • Understanding of plant mechanical and electrical systems, as well as the ability to read construction and process drawings preferred.

  • Must have excellent problem solving and communications skills.

  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks preferred.

  • Computerized and automation control system familiarity strongly preferred.

  • Familiarity with FDA or other regulated industry preferred.

  • Must have an engineering/technical background.
