Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Clearfield, Utah, seeks an entry-level Associate Tooling Quality Analyst to join the Mission Assurance Tooling Quality organization. This role requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret clearance and entails 25% travel.

You will develop and implement tooling quality plans, monitor metrics, work with manufacturing and engineering teams, and help drive corrective actions to improve quality and ensure compliance with standards.

Qualifications

  • Entry-level position with no formal degree required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year minimum manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn site-specific systems (MES, QTIS, MetTeams).
  • Lift up to 35 pounds and perform moderate strenuous work.
  • Flexible, changing shifts including weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement program tooling quality plans, programs, and procedures using statistical quality control, lean manufacturing, and six-sigma tools.
  • Ensure tooling quality conforms to standards; monitor metrics and recommend training focus areas.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Tooling Quality Engineers, and Inspection Teams on corrective actions.
  • Review and analyze tooling quality discrepancies in assembly, process, mechanical, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Attend Cost Center meetings and address requested actions.
  • Investigate problems and develop corrective actions for recurring discrepancies; propose preventive changes.
  • Interface with manufacturing, engineering, customers, vendors, and subcontractors to meet requirements.
  • Prepare briefings focused on metric trends and corrective actions to stop negative trends.

Northrop Grumman is seeking an entry-level Associate Tooling Quality Analyst. This position will be located in Clearfield Utah. The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Mission Assurance Tooling Quality organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement program tooling quality plans, programs, and procedures using statistical quality control statistics, lean manufacturing concepts, and six-sigma tools and analyses.
  • Ensures that performance and tooling quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards. Monitors and presents manufacturing performance metrics to Operational, Program Management and management leaders and recommends, based on metric trends, training focus areas that will support scheduled deliverables.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Tooling Quality Engineers, and Inspection Teams to document and ensure the right corrective or course of action is best for the customer and part being manufactured.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and reports on tooling quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical & electro-mechanical systems of a tool
  • Attend and brief assigned Cost Center meetings and address any requested actions.
  • Investigates problems and develops corrective actions for recurring discrepancies. Recommend preventative process and procedural changes to prevent defects.
  • Interfaces with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met.
  • Build briefings that are focused on metric trends with recommended Corrective Actions to help stop negative trends and prevent additional negative trends. Must be able to review and analyze metrics that Cost Center Operational and Program Management leaders need to ensure their teams success.
  • Informs management quickly of any negative trends or detrimental quality risks that potentially affect manufacturing schedule.
  • Actively participates in maintaining, updating, and implementing the Tooling Quality plan.
  • Documenting Tool discrepancies and developing tool rejection dispositions as levels of responsibilities, knowledge, and experience increase.
Basic Qualifications
  • Experience Level: Entry-level position.
  • Education: No formal degree is required. High Diploma or GED
  • Manufacturing Background: A minimum of 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret level clearance and Special Program Access within a reasonable period, as defined by the company to meet its business needs. U.S. Citizenship required for clearance.
  • Experience in quality, manufacturing, production control, configuration management, or similar data‑/documentation‑focused role.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and ability to learn site‑specific systems (i.e MES, QTIS, MetTeams).
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 20 pounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. High School Diploma or GED
  • This position requires the ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting up to 35 pounds, working overhead or at heights, and accessing small, confined spaces
  • Ability to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends

  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interface confidently with individuals at all levels, including management, peers, and external customers.
  • Organization: Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to multi-task, meet strict deadlines, track action items, and proactively update leadership.

Primary Level Salary Range: $37,400.00 - $62,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
