This position serves as a strategic thought partner to the Provost and provides administrative oversight for academic curriculum of the institution, leadership to the faculty, and management of the processes through which teaching is conducted and administered at Union. Also provides leadership for research involving human subjects.
Founded in 1823, Union University is a private, coeducational liberal arts-based university offering bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, with a total enrollment of about 2,600. The main campus is located in Jackson, Tenn., with additional campuses in Memphis and Hendersonville. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in a related field is required; an earned doctorate is preferred, and at least five years of experience that includes a record of teaching excellence, service, and scholarship commensurate with that of a tenured professor.
Preference will be given to applicants who possess significant experience at the level of dean or above, including experience in the development and administration of curriculum, budget, personnel, strategic planning, and the use of technology in higher education.
Successful candidates must be professing Christians who are active members of a local church, who enthusiastically support Union University’s Identity, Mission and Core Values, Faith Statement, and who articulate a Christian worldview in their work and life.
