Overview

RWJBarnabas Health, the largest integrated health care delivery system in New Jersey, in partnership with Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, seeks an Associate Professor of Transplant Surgery. The candidate will serve as an abdominal transplant surgeon within an expanding abdominal organ transplant program, focusing on kidney, pancreas, and other abdominal organ transplantation, multidisciplinary care, education, and programmatic growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform kidney and pancreas transplant surgeries, procurements, and related procedures.
  • Manage all phases of donor and transplant recipient care in inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Participate in transplant candidate selection committees and develop clinical protocols.
  • Support quality improvement, clinical outcomes, and regulatory performance initiatives.
  • Engage in clinical research, scholarship, and innovation activities.
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees in office, inpatient, and operative settings.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary transplant teams to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care.
  • Support strategic growth, regional visibility, and long-term sustainability of the abdominal organ transplant program.
  • Participate in national and regional transplant societies and professional organizations.
Academic Responsibilities
  • Serve as an attending physician at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows through clinical rounds, Grand Rounds, and conferences.
  • Participate in scholarly activity, including research, publications, and presentations.
  • Engage in community education initiatives and academic programming.

Compensation & Benefits

Minimum salary for this position is $468,756. Final salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience, expertise, and available funding, with consideration of market benchmarks and internal equity.
